This is an unusual design consisting mostly of square cut Sapphires in a wire supported tiered navette /boat shaped cluster.   2 claw-set Sapphires and 4-claw 4 claw-set round Diamonds in a cross formation at the centre of the ring. 
When looking down upon the ring, it makes one think of a blooming flower. The designer might have taken his inspiration from the Cornflower, or the Periwinkle. Ca 1980.
