This Etruscan revival brooch shaped into a lozenge is reminiscent of a golden eye. The brooch is unstamped and was acid tested to approx.14K-15K gold. Its fine granulation and filigree work is beautifully executed. The back of the brooch has a glass insert held by a bezel. The compartment once held a lock of hair or a photo. The brooch is secured by a "C" clasp. It is estimated to date back to the mid-Victorian era (ca 1870). The brooch measures approx. 2" x 1.25", and weighs 12 grams.
